Shaft is about 11.5mm long (outside the housing). 

If you have a fuel or temperature gauge that is always out of calibration (as if the pointer has slipped out of position), then replacement of this motor will solve your problem. If you have a fuel or temp gauge that works intermittently or exhibits erratic behavior, then replacement of this motor will NOT help you.

Make sure, that this is the correct part for your car and you have good electronics assembling/disassembling skills.
